Hello SeaArt Team,
I would like to suggest separating image and video submissions in future challenges.
Currently, both formats compete in the same category, but they are fundamentally different forms of creative expression — each with its own tools, impact, and production cost.
Here are a few points to consider:
Different expressive means:
Videos use motion, lighting shifts, and time-based storytelling. Images, on the other hand, capture a single emotional moment. They cannot be evaluated by the same visual criteria.
Different production costs:
Video generation requires significantly more credits and time. Yet the participation reward and judging criteria remain the same, which creates an imbalance.
Different viewer impact:
Even a simple video naturally attracts more attention due to motion. This gives videos an algorithmic advantage in exposure and reactions, while static artworks become less visible.
Proposed solution:
Create two separate challenge types:
Static Challenge — for still images, concept art, and photorealistic scenes.
Cinematic Challenge — for animated or video submissions.
Both can share the same theme, but each would be judged within its own medium. This would make participation fairer, highlight artistic quality more clearly, and motivate creators working in both formats.
Thank you for considering this idea.
SeaArt is an amazing platform, and this small improvement could make the creative experience even more balanced and inspiring for everyone.
Best regards
