SeaArt has recently introduced a series of changes that severely damage the experience of free users while presenting those changes as if they were made “for the benefit of the community.”
The most noticeable example is the drastic reduction of daily free stamina rewards. Previously, users could receive approximately 30–60 stamina per day through regular activity. Now, the so-called “lucky box” system provides only 10–25 stamina at best, effectively cutting access by more than half.
At the same time, the removal of daily rewards from the Battle Pass system has further reduced the already limited amount of free resources available to users.
The practical consequence of these decisions is obvious: high-cost image and video generation models have become effectively inaccessible for free users. Previously, it was at least possible to use such models occasionally — perhaps once or twice a week. Now, this is no longer realistic without paying.
This creates a serious decline in overall user experience and sends a very clear message: free users are no longer considered valuable participants in the platform ecosystem.
That approach is deeply misguided.
Free users may not contribute money directly, but they contribute something equally important: activity, visibility, experimentation, generated content, public engagement, and the creative environment that helps the platform grow. A platform built around AI-generated art depends on active creators at every level, not only paying customers.
Instead of encouraging creativity and long-term engagement, these new restrictions punish regular users and push the platform toward an increasingly aggressive monetization model.
SeaArt is free to pursue profit. However, presenting severe limitations as “improvements” to the user experience is disingenuous and damaging to community trust.
A creative platform should support creators — not gradually lock them out of meaningful participation.
