Notification indicator light ON all the time (very ANNOYING)

Hi, PLEASE FIX my NOTIFICATION indicator light. A while ago, the notification indicator light came on showing that there are 2 system messages but there's actually just 1. I read the message and now the system's showing that there's 1 message left to read but there isn't one and because of that the notification indicator light is ON all the time. PLEASE reset the number of messages to read to 0 to turn it off.
