Honestly, it has its good points and its bad points.
And I'll write about which customer base Seaart is targeting (my guess) and how to deal with Seaart
The good points are:
・Price and generation costs are significantly cheaper compared to other services. The only way to beat this might be to self-host (install it on your own client).
・It can still generate NSFW content (if used skillfully). Regulations are tightening up, but it's still possible to create it. Forget about younger age groups; that's the global trend.
・They surprisingly quickly roll out new generation models. But lately, they seem to be aiming for a more Seaart-original style, probably a cost-saving measure.
The downsides are:
・They repeatedly introduce bugs. I don't know what their organizational structure is, but they casually introduce regressions. It's practically their specialty now.
・They don't invest in customer support. This is huge. Support staff probably have the motivation, but the company isn't putting money into it. Blaming support reps is pointless. They're just employees too.
- Mysterious restrictions and restriction judgments. Completely incomprehensible. Generations often become useless.
Seaart's target customer base
・Simply put, casual users. Non-edgy, non-regulatory-troublemakers who frequently spin the gacha and generate wholesome images/videos. Users who spend money on AI characters (chatbots) – these are the primary customers. A segment that spends money via smartphone apps without violating Google or Apple regulations. Safe, profitable, ideal customers for the company.
• Conversely, users like me and you—those who pursue edgy, deep, and extreme generation—are veteran customers, but troublesome and high-maintenance. That said, this segment often spends heavily, so they don't want to cut them off.
・I think Seaart is currently wavering on how to handle the latter group. And since major AI platforms can now generate wholesome images and videos for free, they must be struggling.
How to engage with Seaart
・I see it as a low-cost generation service that can produce somewhat edgy content. You accept its clunkiness and bugs because it's cheap. And it really is cheap.
・If you dislike that, you should switch to another service. If you want to create wholesome images or videos cheaply, you can do it with Google or X. Of course, the restrictions are stricter than Seaart's.
That's my take on it.
My subscription is about to expire soon, so I'm currently considering whether to renew or not.
It's a service with various issues, but in terms of cost-performance, it's excellent. The restrictions are also fairly lenient.
I have complaints, but I don't dislike it.
